The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. In John chapter 14, verses 16 & 17 we read Jesus telling his disciples Now the question comes :Who made Peter realize his sinfulness and who made him know that Jesus is Lord? When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord I am a sinful man!”For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners”( Luke 5:1-10)įrom these verses we can infer that Peter realized his sinfulness and also that Jesus was Lord ( Luke 5:8) So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they began to sink. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. “One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around him and listening to the Word of God, he saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. Interestingly Luke records Peter’s call by Jesus in a different fashion. “At once they left their nets and followed him.”( Matthew 4:20) “Where in the world do you fish for men?”and “With what nets?” I wonder what must have gone through Peter’s mind when Jesus told him “I will make you fishers of men.”He must have been perplexed and confused at this unusual man Jesus and his most unusual but authoritative statement. “Come, follow me,”Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. Peter and his brother Andrew were fishermen when Jesus invited them to be his disciples. Hope this study convinces you of the need for the “Baptism in the Holy Spirit”Īs a case study, let’s take a look at the life of Peter, one of Jesus disciples.
To clarify these and some other points, let us look to the Bible for the answers.
Some even deny that there is anything called “filled with the Holy Spirit”.
Some possibly look at others who say they are filled with the Holy Spirit (Baptized in the Holy Spirit) but bear little fruit in their christian lives and the former say,”If that’s the result of being filled with the Holy Spirit, better not to have it.” Some say that they don’t need to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Baptism in the Holy Spirit) because they already received the Holy Spirit when they accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour and that itself is enough for the rest of their lives. SOME LIGHT READING FOT THIS TOPIC - LOL !Īre you baptized in the Holy Spirit? In other words, are you filled with the Holy Spirit?
